The Commander of Eagle Net, Delta State Police Command, Dr. Usman Dimka, a Superintendent of Police (SP) says the real essence of Christmas is to show love to one another, especially the less privileged, and not to make merry.
SP Dimka stated this on Christmas day when he visited the City of David Children’s Home, Asaba, to share the joy of the season with the inmates.
He said it paid to put smiles on the faces of the needy, especially at a time when many who could afford it were lavishly spending their money to celebrate the Christmas big, while some were in desperate need, with no one to cater for them.
The police officer, who presented gift items to the children, sang and danced with them, pointed out that he felt fully satisfied and fulfilled to be in their midst, describing them as victims of fate.
Speaking on behalf of the children, the proprietress of the Home, Mrs Onome Oluwadare, thanked SP Dimka for his show of love to the downtrodden in the society, describing his visit to the Home as inspiring and highly commendable.
The children later prayed for Dimka’s success in his endeavours.
