The leader of PDP ward 11, in Oshimili South local government area of Delta state, Engr. Smart Meka, on Tuesday appreciated four persons in his electoral unit with bags of rice and live chickens for the Christmas celebration.

Meka, who is also a Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Project Monitoring, extended same gesture to four persons each from eight other units in the ward, making it a total of 36 beneficiaries from nine of the 14 units in the ward.

He said the Christmas package was his own way of appreciating the unit coordinators and foot soldiers, whom he noted had carried the responsibility of charging the units on their shoulders for the greater good of the party, explaining that it was a personal initiative and not from the party.

The former Director representing Delta North in the Direct Labour Agency said he and the other five political appointees in Oshimili South PDP Ward 11 were expected to reach out to members of their units this festive season, pointing out that by his singular effort, he had taken care of his unit and eight others without political appointees.

The Governor’s aide stated that the remaining five electoral units in the ward would benefit from a similar gesture, courtesy of the political appointees in the units, appealing to those not accommodated in the exercise to show understanding and wait for the packages that would come from the party, other leaders and the candidates.

Meka thanked the unit coordinators and foot soldiers for their sacrifices for the party, especially during the ward to ward campaign in the ward and urged them to intensify efforts at mobilizing support for all the PDP candidates ahead of and during next year’s election.

He said victory for PDP in the election was not negotiable, emphasizing the need for the ward to record the highest number of votes in Oshimili South, in line with its past winning streaks.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the ward, Hon Afam Uzor, thanked Smart Meka for the package, which he said would encourage the units to contribute more to the electoral process, especially in ensuring successful electioneering campaigns and overwhelming victory for the party in the forthcoming general election.

Others who spoke, including Ogbueshi Eugene Odiachi, Charles Okocha, A. C. Odogwu, Uche Ubogagwu and Mrs Patricia Ijomah, noted that Smart Meka had sustained the tradition of giving to his people every Christmas season and assured him that they would work to achieve victory for Atiku/Okowa, Sheriff/Onyeme, Ned Nwoko, Ndudi Elumelu and Bridget Anyafulu 5/5.
