That national leadership of the Delta Mandate, a formidable pressure group working for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has asked Nigerians to vote out the ruling All Progressives Congress , APC, for its abysmal performance and failure to fulfill its electoral promises to the people in the over seven years it has been in power.
In a 6 – point Communiqué issued at the end of a meeting of its National Executive Committee and Coordinators in Asaba, the group noted that Nigeria was in dire need for urgent rescue and reset by the duo of Atiku Abubakar and Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.
In the Communique signed by the National President, Dr Isaac Anwuzia and National Secretary, Edewor Omonemu Esq, the group berated the APC for plunging the nation in to a state of insecurity and poverty capital of the world with over 133 million Nigerians leaving in abject poverty.
The Delta Mandate leadership noted that the education sector had witnessed a steady decline, culminating in over 8 months industrial action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, which it described as the worst academic set back in recent time.
The group also lambasted one of the Presidential candidates without democratic credentials, noting that the said candidate could not conduct local government elections for eight years as Governor of one of the Southeast states.
It stated that the Presidential candidate, who claimed to be the most righteous and productive politician, did not record any spectacular achievement while in office other than self glorified and unsubstantiated claims without any material economic value to the people.
The group said recent remarks by a sitting Governor had since contradicted the Presidential candidate’s claim as lacking in substance.
The support group, therefore, maintained that only the Presidential candidate of the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, had the capacity and competence to reset Nigeria on the path of sustainable peace, growth and economic development.
It emphasized that PDP had all it took to salvage the nation from its myriad of woes, adding that the country would witness economic boom and prosperity under the PDP, if given the mandate.
