Persons aspiring to lead have been reminded that they cannot achieve that through desperation, but at God’s appointed time.

The Executive Chairman of Aniocha South Local Government, Hon (Pastor) Jude Chukwnwike, made the remark at the Council Secretariat in Ogwashi-Uku on Wednesday, while playing host to members of the M.O.R.E for Delta Youth Project who paid him a courtesy visit.

“When you fight or exhibit desperation for power, you won’t get it, but when you are relaxed it comes to you cheaply at an appointed time because God alone decides who will occupy a particular position.

“Politics is not all about one’s qualification; it is all encompassing but one thing is sure, if you are in politics, your talent tends to come out. You need your talent to express itself fully before you begin to aspire to occupy any position”, Chukwunwike said.

He said those who thought they were more qualified than Sheriff were myopic about leadership, stressing that having a doctorate degree was not a guarantee that the holder would be a better leader than an individual with a first degree.

While saying that those who had the power of expression were not usually more intelligent, Chukwunwike noted that Sheriff should be appreciated for being able to hold the State Assembly together for as long as he had been the Speaker.

Citing the biblical story of Moses and Aaron, the Council Chairman pointed out that God had a way of using people scorned by the society to accomplish great things.

“God knew that Aaron was an orator but he chose Moses the stammerer to speak for him before Pharaoh. There was something in Moses that was bigger than what man calls qualification and that was what God needed”.

Continuing he said: “Sometimes people make the mistake of thinking that because they have been abroad they should be considered first before others, but it is shear lack of understanding.

“Every given time, God decides who occupies a particular position. If you are being denied today, it is not the end of the world.

“At a time Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori was denied House of Assembly ticket but all that laid the foundation for where he is today. Anybody who will sustain power must be ready to go through the process of mentoring, and denials.

“When the right time comes, position comes easily and cheaply. That’s something about God”, Chukwunwike added.

Earlier, the leader of the group, Ambassador Ugagaoghene Yole Enarise, told Pastor Chukwunwike that the visit was to inform him about their activities within the local government area.
