Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor on Health Monitoring and Coordinator of the Delta State Health Monitoring Team, Dr. Michael Nwoko, has lauded the health care development policies of the Okowa administration, describing it as unprecedented in the history of the health sector in Nigeria.
He made the assertion while speaking to newsmen during unscheduled and staggered inspection visits to health care facilities across the three senatorial districts of the state, including the riverine communities.
Dr Nwoko, who commended Governor Okowa for his untiring commitment to revamping and remodelling moribund health institutions into world class state-of-the-art facilities, said the maternal and child health care initiative of the Governor had particularly received coordinated attention by making access to health services free of charge.
The SSA also commended the management and staff of the health care facilities visited, which included Primary Health Care Centres, Secondary and Tertiary Health Care facilities for their commitment and diligence to duty, in line with the key monitoring and evaluation indicators.
He equally appreciated the efforts of his team, whose job was predicated on periodic monitoring and evaluation of health care facilities across the state with a view to reporting promptly to the Governor for urgent review and action.
Dr Nwoko affirmed that the Delta State Government was genuinely eager to upgrade facilities not meeting up with demands, as well as engage the workers in training and retraining to be able to deliver efficient and effective health services to the people in line with the Stronger Delta vision of the State Governor, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa.
