The recent conferment of a National Honours award on Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has continued to elicit accolades, the latest being from the Chairman of the Oshimili South chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ogbueshi Dada Okonji, who said the award was long overdue.
Governor Okowa, who is also the Vice Presidential candidate of the PDP, was among other Nigerians who had distinguished themselves in their respective spheres of endeavor and were honored by President Mohammadu Buhari.
Reacting to the development, Ogbueshi Okonji said the honor was well-deserved as Governor Okowa had continued to distinguish himself as a leader of high repute and impeccable character.
He noted that since the Governor first assumed office in 2015, he had conscientiously ensured prosperity for all Deltans, adding that the dividends of democracy were evenly spread across Delta state, irrespective of the prevailing economic challenges.
According to him, Governor Okowa deserved the national recognition and even more because he had long distinguished himself as a genius, having graduated as a medical doctor early in life and occupied various political positions from Secretary to local government to becoming a Governor.
Dada Okonji observed that the national recognition by President Buhari was a further testament to Okowa’s commitment and competence for a ‘Stronger Nigeria, adding that Deltans must support the Governor to excel in his ambition and deliver the people to the promised land.
He commended President Buhari for the conferment on Governor Okowa and other Deltans.
