The Zamfara State Government has ordered the closure of NTA Gusau, Pride FM, Gamji TV, and Al”umma TV for covering Saturday’s political gathering of the PDP governorship candidate, Dauda Lawal.
The State Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Ibrahim Dosara, who announced the closure of the media outfits in a statement, also directed the State Commissioner of Police, Yusuf Kolo, to arrest the journalists that covered the event for violating government’s order and the ethics of the journalism practice.
The government had on Friday announced a total lockdown in some Local Government Areas of the state following the resurgence of bandit attacks on communities.
It also announced the suspension of all political activities in the state, including meetings and all forms of gathering in private residences, till further notice.
