The recent conferment of the Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON) National Honours Award on the Delta State Governor, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa, by President Muhammadu Buhari, has been described as a well deserved reward for hard work.
The Canvasser General of the Atiku/Okowa Canvassers Movement 2023 and Pioneer Majority Leader of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon (Chief) Aneke Ifemeni, who stated this in a congratulatory message to the Governor and vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, said it was simply in recognition of his great accomplishments as a Senator and now Governor of Delta state.
Hon (Chief) Ifemeni noted that the coming of the award at a time Okowa was eying the Vice Presidential seat of Nigeria, was a good testimonial for his humility, competence, dexterity and detribalized character, which meant that the Atiku/Okowa presidential ticket was a perfect match.
He said the Canvassers Movement was proud of the rising profile of Senator Okowa and would stop at nothing to promote and mobilize support for him and his Principal, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to enable them win the 2023 presidential election.
The former Legislator, who is also Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Agricultural Matters and State Coordinator of the Delta State Coconut Development Program, DESCODEP, said the support was quite optimistic that Okowa had more laurels ahead of him after next year’s election, as Nigerians would experience his capabilities under the Atiku administration, if given the mandate beyond 2023.
Ifemeni commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the honour done the Delta Governor and called on members of the body nationwide to remain focused and committed to the cause of delivering Atiku and Okowa, and indeed other PDP candidates in the forthcoming election.
