The senior national team of Nigeria, the Super Eagles, has expressed displeasure with the money on offer to them as match bonus by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

After the 2-0 win over Liberia in their first game of the World Cup 2022 qualifiers, the players were told their bonus would be paid in Naira as it was part of the new policy of the football body to pay bonuses for home games in Naira.

The sum of 1 million naira was said to be the agreed amount as match bonus for a home win, an amount which the players strongly rejected as their was no meeting for an agreement to the said amount as originally planned.

Leaders of the team were supposed to meet with the NFF to agree on bonuses before the first game but the meeting did not hold.

The players insisted on 5 million Naira and also full payment of their outstanding allowances before the next round of World Cup qualifiers games in October as the NFF could not claim to be broke with the recent unveiling of three new sponsors.
