HMBSMPCS 1 Holds AGM, Elects New Trustees


The Delta State Hospitals Management Board Staff Multi-purpose Cooperative Society (HMBSMPCS) 1 Limited has declared a net surplus of N100.8m for the year ended 31st December, 2020.

The information is contained in the Annual Account of the Society presented to the members at its 20th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held inside the Indoor Sports Hall, Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, at the weekend.

Dividend on Share Capital, which totalled N2.2m, was 5 Kobo to One Naira, interest on Thrift Savings 55 Kobo to One Naira and interest on Target Savings 7 Kobo to One Naita.

The highlight of the event was the election of new Trustees to run the affairs of the Society for the next two years.

A nurse, Mrs Mary Oberuohwo, was returned unopposed as the new President of the 28 – year old society, with Mr. Umukoro Luke also returned unopposed as the Treasurer.

The position of Secretary went to Francis Akpoyibo after polling 297 votes to beat his only rival, Ukwamedua Christian, who garnered 227 votes.

The Management Committee members are Dike Okwelum, Onyebere Collins, Ekufia Joy, Michael Ofegbi, Egbe Isichieli, Bini – Igbe Ruth.

Others are Nduka Roberta, Obukohwo Monday, Okwuokeye MacDonald, Odua Sofia, Akoko Lucky and Izuegbe Chuks.

In her acceptance speech, the new President, who is the 7th and first female to occupy the position, Mrs Mary Oberuohwo, thanked cooperators for the opportunity given her to serve and promised to introduce reforms that would be highly beneficial to them.

Earlier, the outgone President, Mr Onyemazuwa Okonye, thanked members of the society for their support during his tenure, which he said would be remembered for peace in the society, and urged them to extend same to the new Trustees and Management Committee to enable them take the society to greater heights.

The AGM was attended by the Permanent Secretary, Hospitals Management Board, Dr. (Mrs) Omoraka Enite, represented by the Secretary of the Board, Mr Ebo Daniel, the State Director of Cooperatives, Mr. Chukwudi Onyekpe, the Principal Registrar of Cooperative Societies (PRCS) Urban Office, Mr. Johnson Idogho, the State NLC Chairman, Comrade Goodluck Ofobruku, who is also a member, members of the society from across the state and representatives of sister cooperative societies.
