The revolutionalization of education has been identified as a major achievement of Delta State in its 30 years of existence

The Commissioner for Primary Education, Hon Chika Ossai, stated this while speaking on development in the state since creation in 1991.

He noted that education had remained a top priority for successive administrations in the state, pointing out that the uniqueness of educational development in the state over the years was in the spread of education institutions among the three senatorial districts.

Chika Ossai stated that the 1,300 Primary Schools, about 500 Secondary Schools, six Technical Colleges, with nine more under construction, three Polytechnics, three Colleges of Education and now three new Universities, were evenly distributed in the state in a rare demonstration of equity in the governance of the state.

He commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for making history with the creation of the Ministry of Primary Education, with him as the pioneer Commissioner, promising to brace up to the initial challenges of the Ministry.

The Education Commissioner said a lot needed to be done to bring the infrastructure in most of the Primary Schools to standard, describing the decision of the Governor to have a separate Ministry for Primary Education as a bold move towards achieving that.

Chika Ossai urged Deltans to continue to have faith in the state and contribute their quota to making it great as governnent could hardly do it all alone, stressing that Deltans, irrespective of ethnic differences, must leverage on the strength and unity in diversity to make the state greater in the years ahead.
