The overwhelming array of personalities that attended the celebration of life of Pa Arthur Okowa, father of Delta State Governor, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa, at Owa – Alero on Saturday, has been described as an expression of the worthy and fulfilled life the departed patriarch lived.

The State Commissioner for Lands and Surveys, Barr (Mrs) Kate Onianwa, who stated this in an interview with newsmen shortly after the thanksgiving service in honour of the deceased, said the tributes of Deltans, and indeed Nigerians, from all walks of life since the passing of Pa Okowa, had been consoling and affirmative of his exemplary life.

Mrs Onianwa noted that the tribute of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo spoke volume of a good father, a disciplined, dedicated teacher and public servant, a renowned community leader, an astute grassroots politician and a devout Christian.

She expressed gratitude for the good upbringing Pa Okowa gave to his children which guided them through the thick and thin of life, culminating in the successes they had achieved in their various fields of endeavour.
The Commissioner particularly thanked God for the life of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, noting that he had been a source of inspiration to many through purposeful leadership and had impacted positively on the lives of the people in the various capacities he had served at the local, state and national levels before becoming the State Governor in 2015.
Mrs Onianwa said as Governo itr, Senator Okowa had put in place legacy projects, built human capacity through job and wealth creation programmes, revolutionized governance whith his gender friendliness and all inclusive policies, while putting God first in the affairs of the state.

She thanked all who identified with the Okowa family during their trying times, especially Deltans, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the State Governors across party lines, serving and former National Assembly members, the PDP family, the clergy and the traditional institution and urged the family to uphold the sterling virtues and legacies of their late patriarch.
