A former member of the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon (Barr) Chinwe Monu – Olarewaju, has congratulated former Governor of Delta State, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, on his 63rd birth anniversary.
Olarewaju, in a message of felicitation, noted that the life of Ibori had been that of service, as his tenure as Governor of Delta had remained a reference point, within and outside the state, 14 years after leaving office
She said Ibori had remained a high profile politician, a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party, an influencial leader in Niger Delta and a National figure whose views and opinions on politics had always been sought on critical situations which had led to peace and stability in the state and the country.
The former Commissioner for Commerce and Industry and one – time Chairman of Oshimili South Local Government Council, recalled that Ibori was a champion of resource control when he was Governor and spoke firmly on the neglect of the Niger Delta region, advocating a better deal for the oil rich region.
Olarewaju said the foundation laid in Delta by Ibori, popularly called ‘Odidigborigbo’ had remained solid in the political, economic and social life of the state, describing him as a humble, focused, patriotic, selfless and detribalised leader whose administration impacted greatly on the lives of the people.
The Iyaloja of Nigeria prayed God to grant Ibori more fruitful years of life, good health and protection to enable him impact more on humanity.
