A frontline transport company operating in Delta State, Agofure Motors, has been advised to desist from obstructing the smooth operations of the Delta State Passenger Welfare Scheme.

The Head of the Compliance Team of the scheme, Mr. Festus Owhe, gave the advice while reacting to the arrest of some members of the team, at the instance of the transport company, while on their legitimate duty.

Mr. Owhe said the scheme was a creation of a law of Delta State and not a political gimmick, insisting that the Team was empowered by law to enforce compliance and would continue to do so peacefully with civility.

He frowned at the intimidation of the Compliance Team with the police and the subsequent arrest of some of its members by Agofure Motors and challenged the company to seek redress in court if it was fighting a just cause.

The Compliance Team Head stated that there was no court injunction restraining the Team from carrying out its duties, emphasizing that the appropriate place to challenge the legality of the Passenger Welfare Scheme was in court and not a police station.

Mr. Owhe thanked the police officer who looked into the matter for being professional and sincere in his approach and urged Agofure Motors to comply with the Passenger Welfare Scheme Law of the state and stop further violation of the law and intimidation of the Compliance Team.
