ONWO URGES LEGISLATIVE, EXECUTIVE ARMS OF ISOKO SOUTH COUNCIL TO WORK TOGETHER

The member representing Isoko South 2 Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Hon Ferguson Onwo, has called for strong synergy between the Executive and Legislative arms of Isoko South local government council.

Onwo made the call in his office in Asaba when he received in audience members of the Isoko South Legislative arm, led by their Leader, Hon Othuke Arovah, who were in the State Assembly to observe the plenary of the House.

The Lawmaker said a sound and cordial relationship between the Chairman of the council and the Councilors would promote peace and good governance in the local government area.

Onwo who recalled his days as a Councilor, Leader of the Legislative arm and Council Chairman of Isoko South, also stressed the need for each arm of the local government to avoid issues and demands that could breed disagreement and distrust in the council.

He reminded them that paucity of funds could be frustrating, but the situation could be better managed with understanding among the stakeholders, and urged the officials to at all times be committed to prudent management of scarce resources.

The Legislator, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Housing, Women Affairs, Community and Social Development, commended the Councilors for their eagerness to learn, saying that their visit to the State Assembly to observe the legislative process of the House was a step in the right direction.

The Isoko South 2 Constituency representative promised not to relent in his efforts at sustaining development in Isoko South, and charged the Councilors to see themselves as critical stakeholders to the growth of Isoko nation.

The Leader of the Isoko South legislative House, Hon Othuke Arovah, in his remarks commended Hon Ferguson Onwo for always being supportive of the progress of the Council and urged him not to relent in that regard.

Arovah said he led other Principal Officers to the State Assembly to observe legislative proceeding as part of their learning process, saying that the visit was very impactful and thanked the Speaker, Hon Sherrif Oborevwori, for approving the visit and Onwo for facilitating it.

He assured that experience gathered would be put to good use, even as he requested for another opportunity that would involve all the Councilors.

The Leader was accompanied by his Deputy, Hon Dickson Osifo, Majority Leader, Blessing Emiakumor, Deputy Majority Leader, Erowo Wesley Igbdudu, Chief Whip, Goodluck Abedi and Deputy Chief Whip of the House, Hon Godspower Odhomi.
