The Chairman, Oshimili South LGA chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ogbueshi Dada Okonji, has felicitated with the 18 newly sworn – in Commissioners in Delta State.
Speaking with newsmen in Asaba on Thursday after the inauguration of the Commissioners by the State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Dada Okonji said their appointment demonstrated the injection of fresh blood into the system as they were expected to take the Okowa administration to the finishing line of its eight – year tenure.
The party Chairman stated that it was a vote of confidence for the 18 Commissioners to have been chosen from Delta population of over five million and commended the Governor for finding them worthy to serve.
He reminded the Commissioners that it would not be business as usual for them because the Governor was determined to deliver on his electioneering campaign promises and would not accept excuses from any of them.
Dada Okonji urged the Commissioners to set their targets, in line with the Stronger Delta mantra of the Governor, and work towards achieving set goals within the remaining two years of the Okowa administration.
This, he said, was necessary ahead of the 2023 elections as the party would not want to leave any stone unturned in its quest to assert dominion of Delta State and reclaim power at the center.
The Oshimili South PDP chairman used the opportunity to remind residents of the area to participate in the ongoing voter registration exercise by INEC, as they needed their Permanent Voter’s Card to be able to vote or be voted for in the 2023 elections.
