The Ezeumunne Agunaugboma community, compriseing of Umuagu, Ugbomanta and iyagba layouts of Asaba has sealed off some houses and illegally acquired land at Infant Jesus extension, phase two axis of Asaba.
Speaking with newsmen during a protest organised by youths and elders of the community, Barr. Henry Madumezie, who led a team to seal the properties, disclosed that there was a Court ruling supporting the action, adding that they were only taking back what rightly belonged to them.
According to him, his clients secured a court judgement against some individuals who sold the community lands illegally to unsuspecting buyers, pointing out that attempts to resolve the matter failed after those who encroached shunned the peace moves.
He said the land was not only trespassed, the sealed properties also ran foul of the State Capital Territory Master Plan, stressing that even when the court judgement was secured in 2009 people were still encroaching on the land till date.
Barr Madumezie added that the state government was fully in support of the execution order and warned that the sealed buildings would be brought down in no distant time if the owners failed to resolve pending issues with the community.
He said “There is need for the public to know that large land like Amilomocha, Onaododo, Aniulo and it’s tributies along the bank of the River Niger strenching from the back of Asaba township Stadium to the bank of the River Niger up to the boundary of illah town belong to Agunaugboma Ezeumunne family in Asaba.
The legal practitioner commended the court for granting the execution order and thanked his people for turning out in support of the execution.
