The Permanent Secretary, Delta State Ministry of Environment, Dr. (Mrs) Minnie Oseji, has said the Ministry will sustain progressive partnership with critical stakeholders in the environment sector in ensuring a cleaner Delta.
Dr Oseji stated this when he led top management staff of the Ministry on a courtesy visit to the Director – General of the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency, Hon. (Mrs) Onyemaechi Mrakpor, in Asaba.

She commended the agency for working in tandem with the set goals of the Ministry, revealing that the Ministry had embarked on sensitization campaign against indiscriminate dumping of refuse on the highways, streets and in the drains thereby defacing the environment.
The PS further stated that she was looking forward to a situation where the various agencies responsible for the environment could streamline their activities to avoid duplication, and advocated a stakeholders’ meeting to address all environmental issues across the state.

Dr Oseji spoke on the need to inculcate the culture of cleanliness in children to ensure the adoption of best practices in environmental sanitation and waste management.
She disclosed plans by governnent to put in place a waste to wealth scheme, pointing out that the Ministry was partnering with the private sector to set up a waste re – cycling facility in Asaba and solicited the DG”s support for the project.
In her remarks, the DG, DSCTDA, Hon Onyemaechi Mrakpor, said she welcomed the Permanent Secretary’s idea of having a clean environment at all times and commended her passion for environmental activities, particularly beautification.

Hon Mrakpor urged the PS to ensure a sustainable waste collection and disposal system by the Private Sector Participants, and the use of tarpaulin to cover waste disposal trucks to avoid waste dropping on the road or street in the course of evacuation.
She enjoined the authorities to focus on keeping Agbor clean preparatory to the burial of late Chief Arthur Okowa, father of the State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa in July.
