A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Honourable Nnamdi Ezechi, has described the recent defection of the party’s youth leader in Ndokwa East, Mr Emmanuel Obah, to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a non issue no one should lose sleep over.
Ezechi, an Executive Assistant to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa on Youth Development and an indigene of Okpai Oluchi, said the defector and those luring him to APC with elephant promises had no political value, stressing that he was being driven by selfish interest.
He regretted that some armature politicians, including Obah, who thought they could make it overnight had chosen to place their selfish interest above the interest of the generality of the people, assuring that at the appropriate time they would realize their mistakes and seek to come back to where they truly belonged.
On the influence of Senators Omo – Agege and Nwaoboshi on the defections, the EA said the duo lacked the capacity to wrestle the PDP as they had no structures to wreak any havoc, recalling that Nwaoboshi had been suspended by PDP in the state and had lost his relevance to the system.
Ezechi urged PDP faithful in Ndokwa East not to fall for the empty promises of failed politicians who had nothing to show for their representation at the Senate, even with the pains the APC had inflicted on Nigerians in the past six years.
He stated that the PDP governnent of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa had delivered on its campaign promises and would, in the next two years, consolidate the dividends of democracy across the state through more infrastructural and human capital development initiatives.
