ILLEGAL REFUSE DUMPS VANISH IN AGBOR, KWALE, UGHELLI, EFFURUN AS DSWMB MOVES IN

The Delta State Waste Management Board continued its offensive against illegal refuse dumps across the state on Monday with the evacuation of heaps of refuse that have defaced the environment over time.

In Agbor, the Hon Emmanuel Chinye led Board targeted and cleared the dumps at the former Delta Line park close to Agbor – Obi junction, Ewuru junction by D – Kefina Oil Ltd, and the one by Piper’s Hotel, Agbor – Obi.

The Board did not spare the illegal refuse dumps in the Kwale axis as those at St. Luke’s mortuary junction, Udaeka junction, Ossissa junction, Obetim secondary school and Kwale – Ogume road were all sent parking.

In the Ughelli axis, the Board cleared the dump opposite Heroes of Faith Ministries on Ughelli – Patani road, the one opposite Akpos filling station also on Ughelli – Patani road, as well as those by the Catholic Pastoral Centre, Ughelli – Warri road Agbarho, under the railway flyover and by Nkoyo Ibori Centre, after the railway flyover, Agbarho.

The Chairman of Private Sector Participants (PSPs) in Ughelli, Mr Isaiah Emuoyibo, who was highly impressed with the clean look of the town, commended the Waste Management Board for a job well done.

The Board also had an impressive outing in the Effurun axis with the clearing of the illegal refuse dumps at the Army barracks on NPA expressway Effurun, Nigercat junction Ekpan and Chikelly junction on NPA expressway.

In all the locations, pail loaders, tippers and the needed manpower were mobilized to ensure that nothing was left undone in the clean up exercise which started on Friday last week.
