Members of the Aneke Ifemeni Foundation have been urged to be committed to achieving the set objectives of the Non Governmental Organization.
The founder of the group, Honourable (Chief) Aneke Ifemeni, made the call at Onicha – Ukwuani, Ndokwa west, when the Vice – Chairman of the Foundation, Agbantu Monday Osademe, led a delegation of some other member on a solidarity visit to him.
Honourable Ifemeni, who was the pioneer Majority Leader of the Delta State House of Assembly and currently Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Agriculture Matters, said the Foundation was conceived to drive the ideals of communty service and empowerment, pointing out that members of the body had shown deep interest in achieving set goals.
He urged them to remain peaceful and always insist on unity of purpose, adding that they should actively participate in farming activities to make them economically viable in view of the harsh economic realities of the present times.
The AIF initiator promised to acquaint members of the group with the policies and programmes of governnent geared towards empowering the people and thanked them for the tubers of yam presented to support his new yam festival.
Earlier, Agbantu Monday Osademe, who was accompanied by the General Secretary of the Foundation, Christian Okwayeni and Coordinator, Azuka Odali, among others, said the visit was to show solidarity with Ogbuiji Ifemeni in the celebration of life new yam.
He commended the former Lawmaker for his active engagement in farming and for his interest in upholding the cultural heritage of Onicha – Ukwuani.
