The ASSP President said the visit was aimed at enhancing the already established partnership between the Commission and the American Society of Safety Professionals in promoting safety within the organization.

She thanked the DG for his willingness to partner with the association, adding that she was looking forward to a closer working relationship to promote public safety in Lagos and beyond.

The ASSP President called on other states to emulate Lagos in promoting safety in all sectors.

Responding, the Director General of Lagos State Safety Commission, Lanre Omojola, acknowledged the major lapses and low level in safety awareness and concerns in Lagos state as expressed by incessant fire outbreaks in business outfits and homes, explosion and deaths, building collapse as a result of non adherence to professional architectural design profiles.

Omojola gave details of all that had been done to promote safety, acknowledging that a lot still needed to be done hence his promise to synergize with the America Society of Safety Professionals Nigeria Chapter (ASSP) to enhance safety awareness for Lagosians and the generality of Nigerians.
