OMENUGHA LAUDS ANAMBRA TEACHERS FOR HARDWORK, DEDICATION TO DUTY

Teachers in Anambra State have been commended for their commitment to therealization of government’s mandate in the education sector.

The Anambra State Commissioner for Basic Education, Professor Kate Omenugha, gave the commendation during the 2020 World Teachers’ Day celebration.

At the celebration of the Day at Eagles Square Abuja, Anambra State was presented with a brand new bus won by  Grundtvig Secondary School, Oba, for emerging the overall best private school in Nigeria.

She said the numerous awards Anambra State had won in education were indicative of the hard work of teachers in the state.

The Commissioner also applauded the teachers for their contributions to making Anambra a reference point in educational matters across the globe.

Professor Omenugha thanked the teachers for making themselves available for the Teaching on Air programme which commenced on April 1, 2020, after schools were shut down in March 24, 2020, as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

She encouraged them to strive for honesty, self-improvement and perfection, noting that teaching was not just a profession but a calling

The Commissioner also applauded Governor Willie Obiano for creating an enabling environment for both public and private schools in Anambra state to excel in the provision of qualitative education to students in the state.

It will be recalled that Ananmbra state in 2017, 2018 and 2019 won the best teacher, best administrator, and best secondary school awards at the President’s Teachers’ and Schools’ Excellence Award.
