A former member of the Delta State House of Assembly, Honourable (Dr) Alphonsus Ojo, has congratulated Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, his Deputy, Comrade Philip Shaibu and the Edo PDP family on the victory of the party in Saturday’s governorship election.

In a press statement he personally issued on Monday in Asaba, Honourable Ojo, who represented the Ukwuani Constituency in the House, said the reelection of Governor Obaseki attested to the fact that Edo people were appreciative of his efforts at making the state great in the past four years.

He commended the people of Edo for turning out in their numbers to reaffirm and renew the mandate of Governor Obaseki, noting that the victory also showed that power belonged to God and he alone would give it to whom he chose no matter the antics of humans who would want to arrogate to themselves God’s status.

The former Lawmaker further noted that Obaseki’s victory at the polls would give  him the opportunity to serve his people better and fulfil their aspirations without any distraction in form of god – fatherism.

Ojo paid special tribute to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for his immense role in the reelection of Governor Obaseki, stressing that his diligence in mobilizing support for Obaseki had a far reaching influence on the outcome of the election, which he said had brought the old Bendel under the big umbrella of the PDP.

He congratulated the PDP National Campaign Council for the Edo election led by Governor Nyesom Wike of River State for the hard work and sacrifice which led to the victory of the party in the election and commended INEC and security agencies for ensuring a peaceful and fair election.

The former legislator said with Obaseki’s victory there would no longer be politically dissenting voice in the South South Governors’ Forum, which would foster unity of purpose and strengthen the developmental initiatives of the region.
