The State Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Honourable Chika Ossai, gave the advice while commissioning the Owa Alizomor community market, in Ika north east local government area.

Chika Ossai, while commending the ika north east local government Chairman, Mr. Victor Eboka, for successful building the market under private public partnership, said the Okowa administration would continue to attract meaningful projects to the people at the grassroots.

He noted that the market would serve the needs of the people of the area and urged them to make judiciously use of the facility.

The Trade and Investment Cimmissioner said although the state government had in the past intervened in building markets and handing over to the councils for allocation and management, it was the consitutional responsibility of local governments to build markets.

The chairman of ika north east local government, Mr Victor Eboka, said the construction of markets and other infrastructure remained  the priority of his administration.

While thanking the Governor for the provision of peaceful atmosphere for local governments to function, the local government boss said his administration had embarked on several key projects, including expansion of Ebu Owa market, grading of some community earth roads and construction of the Boji Boji international market.

In his remark, the Obi of Owa Kingdom,  Dr. Emmanuel Efeizormor the second, expressed delight at the timely construction of the market which, according to him, would help to decongest the over populated Ebu Owa market.

The highlight of the occasion was the formal commissioning of the market by the Commissioner, flanked by some government functionaries.
