The Delta State House of Assembly Committee on Urban Renewal has called for Memoranda on a Bill for a law to provide for the Administration of Urban and Regional Planning, Urban Development, Urban Renewal, Building Control Activities, and the Establishment of Urban and Renewal Board and Local Planning Authority.
A statement by the Chairman of the Committee, Hon Oboro Preyor, says the Committee will entertain written contributions from interested organisations and individuals, including the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice.
Others include, the State Commissioner for Environment, Commissioner for Urban Renewal, and Commissioner for Lands, Survey and Urban Development a, as well as parastatals under the Ministry of Lands, Survey and Urban Development.
Also expected to submit Memoranda are Professional Bodies, Civil Engineering and Environmental Health Officers and other stakeholders from the public and the private sectors.
According to the statement, the Committee will not be able to organise a public hearing due to the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic.
It adds that fifteen copies of the Memoranda which should be enclosed in sealed envelope and addressed to the Chairman, House Committee on Urban Renewal, should be submitted on or before Friday, 24th July, 2020.
