The death has occurred of a former Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Honourable Zakawanu Garuba.
A family member of the deceased confirmed that he died of an undisclosed illness in Abuja this morning.
Zakawanu Garuba, who died at the age of 55, was born in Akpekpe community, Auchi, in Etsako West Local Government Area, Edo state.
He graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State, where he studied Law.
The late Zakawanu Garuba was one of the top politicians in the country and was elected into the Edo State House of Assembly in 2003 before becoming the speaker in 2007.
