BILL TO ESTABLISH DELTA INDIGENOUS SECURITY OUTFIT PASSES SECOND READING

A Bill for a law to establish an indigenous security outfit in Delta State; “Delta State Community Security Corps Agency 2020” on Tuesday  passed second reading in the State House of Assembly.

Arguing in favour of the Bill, the Deputy Speaker, Honourable Ochor Christopher Ochor, the Chief Whip, Honourable (Princess) Pat Ajudua, and the member representing Aniocha South, Honourable Austin Chikeze, described it as apt and timely.

Ochor, while commending the State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa for initiating the Bill, held that when passed it would help to curb  criminality in the state and urged his colleagues to support the Bill.

For her part, the Chief Whip, Honourable Pat Ajudua, said, “I want to lend my voice to  the passage of this Bill as it is indeed germane, apt and timely. This Bill when passed and signed into law, will see to the establishment of an outfit to replace the vigilante system and this is good for our dear State as it will cover every nook and cranny of the state.”

Others who spoke in favour of the Bill are the Deputy Chief Whip, and member representing the Uvwie constituency, Honourable Solomon Ighrakpata, Ughelli south, Honourable Reuben Izeze, Warri south west, Honourable Guwor Emomotimi, Aniocha north, Honourable Emeka Nwaobi, and Ughelli north 1, Honourable Charles Whomrowho.

The Speaker of the House, Honourable Sheriff Oborevwori, later  referred the Bill to the House Committee on Special Bills and Security.
