NUJ DELTA STATE GETS CARETAKER COMMITTEE

A seven – member Caretaker Committe has been inaugurated for the Delta State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) with Comrade Sonia Unobunjo of DRTV Warri as Chairman.

The Committe members were elected at the Uniin’s State Executive Committee meeting held on Thursday at the Permanent Press Centre on Maryam Babangida Way, Asaba, under the watch of the State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu and the Vice – Chairman, NUJ, south south zone, Comrade Edward Ogude.

Comrade Emmanuel Ekebe of the Isoko Chapel is to serve as secretary, while Nelson Agbajor of the Sapele Chapel,  Florence Nwabunowun of the State Ministry of Information Chapel, Dominic Adewole of the Asaba Correspondents Chapel, Gilbert Olie of Delta Broadcasting Service Asaba Chapel and  Sunday Egede of the  Pointer Chapel are members.

Aniagwu urged members of the union in the state to maintain the peace, promising to facilitate the immediate takeoff of the Committee with the sum of #500,000( Five Hundred Thousand Naira),

The Commissioner said the Committee should hit the ground running and conduct a free, fair and credible election of the union as quickly as possible in order to put in place the State Executive Council of the Union.

The Committee’s Chairman, Comrade Unobunjo, who responded on behalf of other members, thanked the Commissioner and other members of the union in the state for the peaceful outcome of the meeting. 

She promised that the Committee would  do everything possible to deliver on the onerous task before it within a record time, and urged members of the union in the state to give the Committee the needed support to unite and strengthen the NUJ.
