The Chairman, Delta State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Goodluck Ofobruku, who was kidnapped by unknown gunmen over the weekend, has been released.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Police Command, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, who confirmed the release, however, did not give details.
Information available to our reporter has it that Ofobruku was released Monday night along with two others after ransom was paid.
He was said to have been starved and injured by the abductors, but is currently recuperating.
The state Secretary of the NLC, Comrade Innocent Ofuonyeadi, who spoke to us on phone, thanked the state government, the national leadership of the NLC, the entire Delta State Congress, the State TUC and the affiliate unions, the Christian community, the press, the police, DSS and other security agencies for their efforts and prayers towards Ofobruku’s release.
