Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
In a statement personally signed by him on Saturday, the Southeast Governor confirmed that he tested positive for the virus after undergoing the coronavirus test.
The Governor, who also revealed that some of his close aides tested positive for the virus, said had since gone into isolation in line with protocols laid down by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), even as they were asymptomatic.
He said he had handed over to his Deputy, Kelechi Igwe, for the frontline coordination of the state’s fight against the pandemic to protect Ebonyi people.
Umahi appealed to the people of Ebonyi state to take the NCDC protocols more seriously while stating that he would be working from home and would conduct all meetings virtually.
