A 49 – member National Campaign Council has been constituted by the All Progressives Congress for the Edo governorship election with Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje as Chairman.

Three erstwhile Governors of Edo State, namely Chief John Odigie Oyegun, Professor Oserheimen Osunbor and Comrade Adams Oshiomhole are members of the Campaign Council.

Chief John Odigie Oyegun was the Executive Governor of Edo State between 1992 and 1993 during the failed Nigerian Third Republic.

He was also the first National Chairman of APC and a staunch supporter of Obaseki before the Governor decamped to PDP.

Professor Oserheimen Osunbor, a former Senator, was the Governor of Edo State between 2007 and 2008 before he was sacked by the Court for several voting irregularities.

He became Governor on the platform of PDP but later decamped to APC in 2015.

Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is the immediate predecessor of the incumbent Governor of Edo State.

He was Governor from 2008 to 2016 and also a former National Chairman of APC before he was suspended by his ward chairman and subsequently removed when the National Working Committee was dissolved by the party’s NEC which was chaired by president Muhammadu Buhari.
