Former Nigeria Leader, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has warned Nigerians not to be in a hurry over the lifting of restrictions on lockdown for the end of the combat against the coronavirus pandemic, stating that Nigeria is not out of the COVID-19 woods yet.
He gave the warning at the 2020 Annual Sobo Sowemimo Lecture at the Abeokuta Club in Abeokuta on Friday where he was the guest lecturer.
Obasanjo described COVID-19 as a deadly disease that Africa in general was not well equipped for, adding that coronavirus might not disappear from the surface of the earth so soon.
The former President, nevertheless, warned Nigerians not to think that the country had survived the disaster just because the Federal and State Governments had loosened the restrictions.
He said for the nation to be sustained during the COVID -19 period, government should focus on food availability and security, employment and job security, while advocating a change in the pattern of living, including traveling and innovation, science, technology.
