ACTIVIST HAILS APPOINTMENT OF PROF ADIGIO AS VC NIGERIAN MARITIME UNIVERSITY, URGES HIM TO SET ENVIABLE TARGET FOR THE INSTITUTION

A  renowned development activist and scholar, with the traditional title of Ibe-Uyadonwei of oil- rich Gbaramatu  Kingdom, in Warri south west local government area of Delta State, Chief Dennis Otuaro, has congratulated Professor Munakurogha Adigio on his appointment as the substantive Vice Chancellor of the Nigerian Maritime University, Okerenkoko, by President Muhammadu Buhari.


In a press statement he personally signed and issued in Oporoza, Headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom, at the weekend, Chief Otuaro lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for Professor Adigio’s appointment and urged the VC to hit the ground running and strive at developing the University to become one of the best in Africa


The activist noted that the young Premier University had suffered some major challenges from the beginning and implored the new Vice Chancellor to bring his vast wealth of experience to bear in the development of the institution.


The Ibe-Uyadonwei of Gbaramatu Kingdom added that Professor Adigio must do everything possible to put the University in the global map and partner with other great institutions around the world for the overall development of the Nigerian Maritime University, Okerenkoko, the first of its kind in West Africa.


Chief Otuaro stated that the new Vice Chancellor should take the development of the permanent site of the University as a major priority, ensure that all the academic programmes of the University were accredited and the Dockyard of the University not relocated to somewhere else.


The development expert assured the new Vice Chancellor of the total cooperation and unflinching support of the people of Gbaramatu Kingdom and the entire people of the Niger Delta region for the University.


Until his appointment, Professor Munakurogha Adigio was of the Faculty of Engineering, Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island, Bayelsa State.


He holds a Doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Loughborough University,  Loughborough, Leicestershire, United Kingdom
