Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has welcomed his Edo counterpart, Mr Godwin Obaseki to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the September 19 Governorship election in the state.
Okowa, who addressed newsmen shortly after a meeting with the Governor and top members of the PDP in Edo State, said he was in Benin to formerly welcome his brother Governor, Obaseki to PDP and to assure him of the support of the Governors of the South South in the forthcoming election in the state.
He said PDP was a great party built around the people and would always work in the interest of the people, appealing to all members of the party to ensure they worked together to deliver the party in the coming elections.
For his part, Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, thanked his Delta counterpart for the visit assuring that he would do everything possible to secure victory for the party in the state.
He said the PDP had remained a big united party in Edo, adding that whoever emerged in the governorship primaries would get the support of the people.
Obaseki said he delayed picking the PDP membership card until he had visited all the PDP governorship aspirants in the state as a mark of respect for them.
