The Nigeria Metrological Agency (NIMET) has predicted flooding in Delta State this year as a result of heavy rainfall.
Consequently, the Delta State Ministry of Environment has advised people living in the River Banks and Low Land Areas of the state to move to higher grounds or places of safety.
All owners of illegal structures, including buildings and caravans blocking natural waterways have been advised to remove them, while residents have been warned to stop indiscriminate dumping of refuse in the drains.
Local Government Councils in the state, Traditional Rulers, Community and Opinion Leaders have been advised to prepare for the prediction to reduce the level of destruction of property and avoid loss of lives.
