President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed dismay at the performance of the nation’s Service Chiefs in tackling insecurity across the country.
Buhari, who made his feelings known to State House Correspondents through the National Security Adviser, Major General Babagana Mungono, after his meeting with the Security Chiefs at the Presidential Villa on Thursday, admitted that although the Service Chiefs were trying their best to combat the security challenges in the country, their best had not been good enough.
He maintained that his administration would no longer tolerate excuses for failures on the part of the Security Chiefs and charged them to show greater commitment to tackling security challenges headlong.
Recall that there had been immense pressure on Buhari to make decisive changes in the security architecture of the country, for the sake of tackling the incessant cases of security breaches across the nation.
There had also been protests in the northern part of the country, including Buhari’s home state Katsina, against the trend of banditry which had claimed several lives.
