MONU – OLAREWAJU FOUNDATION JOINS IN CELEBRATION OF UNITED NATIONS GLOBAL SOLIDARITY DAY, VISITS OKO – AMAKOM

In commemoration of this year’s United Nations Global Solidarity Day, the Monu – Olarewaju Foundation, in collaboration with Sponsor A Child Woogi Africa, has visited Oko Amakom, in Oshimili south local government area of Delta state to interact with children and sensitize them on open distance and digital learning techniques.

The Foundation also educated the children on COVID – 19 preventive measures, urging them to look beyond the pandemic era and prepare for life after now.

The founder and initiator of MOF,. Honourable Chinwe Monu – Olarewaju, regretted the impact of COVID – 19 on children’s education, saying that schools had remained closed for almost two months, with the attendant effect on the academic calendar and the ability of the children to remain in tune with their school work.

Olarewaju charged the children to key into the continuing and distant learning programme of the Delta State Government on radio and television to be able to recover what they had lost in their education, pending when schools would reopen for normal academic activities.

She spoke on the benefits of digital education, stressing that education had gone beyond the conventional method in view of global technological advancement.

The former state legislator touched on game based, fun filled educational system called Woogi being championed by Sponsor A Child Woogi Africa, with Augusta Impact as Coordinator for Africa.

Olarewaju called on critical stakeholders to deliberate on the way forward for education in the post COVID – 19 era because the pandemic had taken a big toll on the nation’s educational system.

The MOF initiator also appealed to the children to maintain good personal hygiene, wash their hands regularly and abide by other precautionary measures announced by government to curtail the spread of the corona virus on the state.

The visit to Oko Amakom took Honourable Olarewaju and Augusta Impact to the palace of the Okakwu of the community, where they urged the traditional ruler to ensure adequate sensitization of his people on COVID – 19, and the need to stay safe.
