DELTA STATE GOVT ASSURES OF TIMELY COMPLETION OF ROAD PROJECTS

Delta State Commissioner for Works, Chief James Augoye, has assured that all the road projects awarded in the state will be completed on schedule.


Chief Augoye gave the assurance when he inspected some road projects in Ika north east and south local government areas of the state.


The Commissioner said all the contractors were on site and doing well, adding that but for some observed minor defects, the quality of work was high, even as he encouraged the contractors  to increase their pace of work to be able to make significant progress before the rains set in.


The Works Commissioner, who said he was impressed with the level of work done by the contractors handling the 1.7km DDPA Housing Estate, Phase III roads; the 3.449km adjoining street around Queen Streets in Ika south local government area; the 10.17 km Alihame/Agbor-Nta/Oki road from Old Lagos-Asaba road in Ika south local government area and Efeizomo road from Owa-Ekei/Owa-Alero road from Old Abraka road, Boji-Boji Owa, urged the contractors to continue with the good work.


He particularly commended Chioino Global Services for completing the 2.625km Convent road project which was awarded in January, 2020.


Commenting on the open drains in some of the road projects which emptied into the Orogodo river in Agbor, Chief Augoye directed that some parts of the drains be covered, while the parts close to the river shiuld remain open..

Speaking on the testing laboratory being constructed by the Ministry of Works in its office premises in Asaba, the Commissioner revealed that the project would be completed before the end of this year as the Ministry had acquired the necessary equipment which would soon be installed for the lab to commence operation.


He said the laboratory would save the state and contractors the trouble of travelling to Edo State to test construction materials.
