Delta State Commissioner for Trade and Investment ,Honourable Chika Ossai, has charged local government chairmen across the state to ensure that traders make judicious use of modern markets built by the state government in their areas.
Chika Ossai gave the charge on Thursday when he led the management team of his ministry to inspect the ongoing landscaping of Owa Alero modern market in Ika north east local government area.
The Commissioner, who frowned at the way the market was underutilized, urged the traders to justify the huge amount of money spent by government in building the market by trading inside the main market building, just as he warned against trading at the park and on flower pots in the market.
While calling on the chairman of Ika north east local government, Barrister Victor Ebonka, to ensure that those saddled with the responsibility of keeping the market were up and doing, Chika Ossai expressed displeasure at the filthy condition of the market.

He pointed out that all the markets built across the state by the Okowa administration were of lnternational standards and should be put to judicious use to justify the good intentions of government.
The Trade and Investment Commissioner assured the traders that he would meet with the ika north east local government Chairman to strengthen out things in the market .
Some of the traders who spoke to the Commissioner said the stalls were allocated to persons who were not traders and that the allottees were renting the stalls to them at high rates..
They appealed to the state Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, to come to their aid before the rains, as the market was wasting away.
