As part of measures to improve health care services in the rural area, the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN) National Secretariat, has donated medical items to Comprehensive Primary Health Center, Idumuje Unor.

The National President, MWAN and Permanent Secretary, Delta State Ministry of Health, Dr.(Mrs) Minnie Oseji, made the donation on behalf of the Association.

Dr. Oseji explained that the Association embarked on a nation-wide project to promote maternal, newborn and child health in one health facility in each state of the first, pointing out that Comprehensive Primary Health Center, Idumuje Unor, in Aniocha north local government areas, was one of the 2019-2021 Biennial adopted health facilities.

She said the interventions to be implemented during the period include training, provision of medical equipment and flyers for health education as well as supportive supervision, which would later be evaluated using data.
Explaining the implementation of the Association’s laid out interventions, Dr. Oseji said training on Basic Life Support and Essential Newborn Care had been conducted for the Matron in Charge of the health facility.
The MWAN National President further stated that the provision of medical equipment had been accomplished, in addition to provision of manuals from Nigerian Urban Reproductive Health Initiative (NURHI) to adopt their best practice in facility make over.

Items donated include face masks, hand washing bucket, flyers, reproductive health manuals, drugs and consumables.
The Community Health Worker, Comprehensive Primary Health Center, Idumuje Unor, Mrs. Anwadike Blessing, who received the items on behalf of the Matron, thanked the Association for the gesture and promised judicious use and distribution of the items for the benefit of the community.
