OMU TITLE HOLDERS IN ANIOCHA/OSHIMILI GET PALLIATIVES FROM MONU – OLAREWAJU FOUNDATION

The Monu Olarewaju Foundation has  extended its donation of food items and cash to Omu Anioma, Obi Martha Dunkwu, and other of her counterparts in  Aniocha  north, Aniocha south and Oshimili north local government areas of Delta state.

Presenting the palliatives to the Omus, the founder and initiator of the Foundation, Honourable (Barr) Chinwe Monu – Olarewaju, said the gesture was to appreciate them for their role in ensuring the well being of women in their communities, particularly in the management of markets.

Honourable Olarewaju, a former member of the Delta State House of Assembly and one time Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, noted that the Omus were the voices of women in their domains, adding that their roles were complimentary to those of their traditional rulers towards ensuring peace and unity in their communities.

She solicited the support of critical stakeholders for the Omus, particularly those interested in the advancement of culture and tradition as they concerned women, to enable them to effectively play the roles expected of them for the greater good of women. . 

The MOF initiator, while calling for due recognition for the female traditional institution, urged the Omus to handle their duties with honour, integrity transparency and fairness in order to enjoy the respect and support of the people.

The former lawmaker reminded the Omus that COVID – 19 is real and appealed to them to adequately sensitize their people, especially the women, on the need to stay safe from the virus.

In their separate remarks, the Omus thanked the Monu – Olarewaju Foundation for the gesture and gave their royal blessings.

Honourable Olarewaju and members of her team visited the Omus of Okpanam and Akwukwu – Igbo  in Oshimili north, Issele – Uku, Obior, Onicha – Ugbo and Onicha – Uku, in Aniocha north, as well as the Omus of Ubulu – Okiti in Aniocha south local government area.
