COVID – 19: 238 New Cases, 10 Deaths Recorded On Friday, May 1.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has confirmed another batch of 238 new cases of the coronavirus in the country, bringing the total till date to 2,179 cases.


351 have been discharged and 68 deaths recorded in 34 state and the Federal Capital Territory.


The 238 new cases were recorded in twenty – two states.


Kano had (92), FCT (36), Lagos (30), Gombe (16), Bauchi (10), Delta (8), Oyo (6), Zamfara (5), Sokoto (5), Ondo (4), Nasarawa (4), Kwara (3), Edo (3), Ekiti (3), Borno (3), Yobe (3), Adamawa (2), Niger (1), Imo (1), Ebonyi (1), Rivers (1), Enugu (1).


Lagos now has a total of 1,006 cases, followed by Kano with 311 and the FCT 175.


Delta so far has 17 cases, 4 discharged and 2 deaths, while Anambra, Plateau and Benue state have 1 case each.

Kogi and Cross River states have yet to record any case.


The increasing number of new cases in the country since after the partial relaxation of the lockdown has been a cause for concern to many Nigerians and seems to suggest that another phase of total lockdown may be necessary if the trend continues.
