As the statewide lockdown ordered by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa comes to an end, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Health Monitoring and member, COVID-19 Enforcement Committee, Dr. Michael Nwoko, has appealed to all residents of the state not to see the easing of the lockdown as an end to the various measures put in place to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Dr. Nwoko, who made the call while speaking on a Delta TV programme ”Morning Ride” admonished Deltans to continue to maintain social and physical distancing as a way of life.
He said the culture of hand washing along with other precautionary measures necessary to curtail the spread of the deadly virus should continue, adding that the partial lockdown of the state, effective April 30 notwithstanding, people should not lose consciousness of the reality of the COVID – 19 by acting as if all was well for the country.

On the continued closure of the state borders, Dr. Nwoko said irrespective of the obvious difficulties associated with manning the state borders, the committee saddled with the responsibility would continue to give its best despite the multiplicity of entry points to the state.
Dr Nwoko enumerated the border posts to include, the Onitsha bridge head, Ologbo, Urhonigbe, Idumuje-Ugboko, Igbanke, Alifekede, Mbiri, Patani, Abraka and Illah-Ebu extension.

The Governor’s aide said government had set up a committee to continue to contain the virus without necessarily jeopardising the socio – economic life of the state and commended Governor Okowa for his foresight in dealing with exigencies of the COVID – 19 pandemic.
