The Chief Whip of the Delta State House of Assembly, Honourable (Princess) Pat Ajudua, on Sunday distributed food items to the 10 state wards in Oshimili north local government area.

Presenting the items to the Food Bank committees of the various wards at Ibusa, Honourable Ajudua said it was in keeping with an earlier promise she made, adding that the gesture was to augment what the State Food Bank had given to vulnerable residents of the wards to cushion the effect of the lockdown.

She reiterated her resolve to place the welfare of Oshimili north people above personal considerations, stressing that she was concerned about the hardship her constituents, particularly the vulnerable ones, were facing as a result of the lockdown in the state occasioned by the COVID – 19 pandemic.

The Chief Whip, who also represents the Oshimili north constituency in the State Assembly, however, noted that it was better to suffer difficulties sitting at home to stay safe, than contract the deadly corona virus with the unimaginable consequences.

The legislator urged the people to continue to abide by the precautionary measures reeled out by the state government and health authorities, assuring them that the purpose of the  COVID – 19 lockdown was being achieved with the spread under control in Delta state.

Honourable Ajudua urged the ward food bank committees to ensure that no vulnerable household in their domains, irrespective of political interest, tribe or religion, was left out in the distribution of the food items, emphasizing that there should be no political influence in the exercise.

Items distributed include bags of garri, onions, cartons of indomie noodles, cartons of tin tomatoes, tubers of yam and bags of salt.
