COVID – 19: Okoh Donates Palliatives To Constituents; Commends Okowa For Pro – activeness

The Majority Whip of the Delta State House of Assembly, Honourable Festus Okoh, has pledged support for the state government’s efforts at cushioning the effects of the Corona virus pandemic in the state.


Honourable Okoh, who represents the Ika south constituency in the House, made the pledge while distributing  palliatives to individuals and groups in his constituency as part of measures to address the issue of hunger in the locality.


The lawmaker donated half a million naira each to Agbor Community Union, ACU and  Concerned Agbor Citizens, CAC, in support of the food bank established in Agbor, while Onu Ika Nigeria, a pan-Ika sociocultural group got One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira for its campaign against Covid 19.


Honourable Okoh also distributed food items valued over thirty millions naira, including bags of rice, beans and garri, cartons of Indomie Noddles, groundnut oil and cash in the constituency with special attention to widows and physically challenged persons.


The legislator, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Transport, also donated 500 cartons of Indomie Noddles to the state government’s food bank in Ika south and presented half a million naira to an orphanage in Agbor for purchase of food items and for other needs of the home, including payment of the tuition fees for the inmates.


Honourable Okoh said the gestures were aimed at alleviating the challenges faced by constituents following the lockdown imposed by government as a measure to contain the spread of Covid 19 pandemic in the state.


He commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for his selfless efforts towards containing the spread of the virus in the state, stressing that the proactive measures by the Governor had helped in the management of the pandemic in the state.


Honourable Okoh enjoined the people of Ika south to remain law abiding and shun the temptation of disregarding government directives on the Covid 19.


The lawmaker also commended the efforts of sons and daughters of Ika south who had contributed to the wellbeing of the people since the lockdown which he said had helped to put smiles on the faces of the people.


He expressed optimism that the pains caused by the deadly Corona virus pandemic would soon be over.


At an  interactive session with the executives and members of various Community-based security groups in Agbor, Honourable Okoh commended them for their dedication to duty, especially during this era of Covid-19 lockdown.


The high point of the interactive session was presentation of 75 cartons of Indomie noodles to the community based security outfits.
