The distribution of food items from the Delta State Covid – 19 Response Food Bank to the wards and local government areas of the state begins tomorrow with Delta central.

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta state, who disclosed this after inspecting the Food Bank at the premises of the State Agricultural and Rural Development Authority (DARDA) in Ibusa on Thursday, said a committee headed by the Secretary to the State Government would work with the Council chairmen and other critical stakeholders to ensure a smooth distribution process.

Okowa disclosed that food items, including rice, beans and noodles, provided mainly by government, supported with donations from a few well meaning individuals and organisations, were also stocked at the SEMA warehouse in Asaba and in another location in Warri.

He emphasized that the food items must be distributed to all most indigent Deltans and non Deltans resident in the state, irrespective of political interest, warning that the committees at the ward and local government levels must not be found wanting in the distribution of the items.

The Governor thanked all who had made donations in cash and kind, and appealed for more contributions to the COVID – 19 response project.
