A passionate appealed has gone to Deltans not to see the two weeks extension of the stay at home meant to check the spread of the COVID – 19 in the state as a punishment, but a measure to prevent more Deltans from being infected with the virus.
The State Commissioner for Trade and investment, Honourable Chika Ossai, made the appeal while speaking on a language magazine programme on Voice of Delta, Asaba
The commissioner, who stated that the extension of the stay at home measure was not in bad faith, said the life of every Deltan was important to the Governor.
He noted that Governor Okowa was aware of the sufferings and pains Deltans had been through since the outbreak of the Covid 19 pandemic and advised that nothing could be more important than staying alive.
Chika Ossai informed the people plans by the state government to distribute food items to all the wards in Delta state irrespective of party affiliation and state of origin, as a palliative measure to ameliorate the sufferings of the people.
The Commissioner, who expressed confidence that the food items would be distributed in a seamless manner, urged Deltans to conduct themselves in an orderly manner at the commencement of the distribution process.He called on corporate organizations in the state and beyond to compliment the efforts of the state government by donating more food items to the Food Bank.
Chika Ossai used the opportunity to commend media workers for their role in the fight against COVID – 19 as well as security agencies for their maturity in enforcing the stay at home order and urged Ndokwa people to stay safe.
