The member representing the Udu Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, Honourable Peter Uviejitobor, has donated food items worth millions of naira to his constituents to cushion the effect of the ongoing restriction of movement order of the state government.

Uviejitobor, while handing over the items which include bags of rice, beans and garri to representatives of the thirty two communities in Udu local government area, reminded the people that the lockdown was for the best interest of all as it was a measure to contain the spread of Covid-19 in the state.

He appealed to the representatives of the communities, amongst whom were Chairmen of the town unions, to identify the most vulnerable in their localities and ensure the food items got to them.

Uviejitobor, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Water Resources Development, charged the representatives to distribute the food items across board as it had nothing to do with political party affiliation.

He stressed that the entire Udu people were his constituents and the welfare and wellbeing of all would remain his  concern, in partnership with other critical stakeholders in the council area.

The lawmaker called on the people to strictly adhere to government’s directives on restriction of movement as the only known cure of the dreaded Corona virus for now was to stay safe.

Uviejitobor commended Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for his swift response to unfolding events on Covid 19, stressing that the pro activeness of the State Central Committee on Managing and Containing the Coronavirus pandemic led by the Governor had helped to check the spread of the virus in the state.

He appreciated the love of God for Deltans, particularly the people of Udu State Constituency and prayed that the Covid 19 pandemic currently ravaging the world be brought to an end.

The lawmaker charged his constituents to remain calm, law abiding, prayerful and supportive of government in ensuring peace, security and good governance of the state.

The representatives of the communities who spoke thanked Uviejitobor for the donation of the food items, which they said would go a long way in cushioning the effects of the lockdown to check the spread of Covid 19 in the state.

They assured the Lawmaker that the food items would be distributed to the target people and urged him to remain a good ambassador of the Udu people.
