Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta state on Health Monitoring, Dr. Michael Nwoko, has urged Deltans to avoid neighborhood clustering in order guard against community transmission of the corona virus.

Dr Nwoko, in a message he posted on his Facebook wall on Sunday, said as Deltans obeyed the sit – at – home order, it was important they shunned cluster of people in their neighborhood and report same to the appropriate authorities for prompt action.

He said clusters were against the social distancing rule which was key to curtailing the spread of COVID-19, adding that clusters could undermine the very essence of the “sit at home order” carefully arranged by government in to guarantee the safety of all residents of the state from the dreaded COVID-19 currently spreading across the country.

The SSA noted that with the efforts of the state Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, through the state Ministry of Health, the Emergency Operation Committee, coupled with the level of awareness and compliance on the path of residents of the state, Delta had remained free from COVID – 19, stressing that it was important to continue to stay safe all through the period of lockdown without any reported case.

Meanwhile, Dr Michael Nwoko has visited the Edo/Delta border town of Ali-Ifekede, in Ika south local government area of Delta state on his daily border monitoring duty.
At the border post, he commended the team of health workers and the security personnel for their commitment and diligence to duty.

He specifically thanked the Ika south local government Chairman, Honoursble Victor Okoh, for providing additional water tank for the washing station and fixing of Fog lights in the border area to ensure it was well lit to boost the operations of the border closure enforcement team on a 24 hour basis.

The SSA was also at the Delta-Edo border post at Ologbo, where he encouraged the health workers and  security personnel manning the post to put in their best at this critical time to ensure the border closure was fully operational and effective.
